tried to find it here and couldn't. He actually got some heat for spoofing a medical condition and he had to lay off.

  • One of Sid's characters was "Cool Cees" (sp) the myopic saxophonist.

  • Wow! Swingin' SID! this is GREAT! yes- thanks for posting!

  • Wow! Is that really Sid? What an amazing man.

  • Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for posting this.

  • Thank You !

I had no idea Sid Caesar was also a talented saxaphonist, he could have made a career out of just that.

Sad it was just a hobby with him, he was REALLY GOOD.

  • Seeing this clip reminds me of a remark made by an old friend of mine. Her name was Chan Parker and she used to be married to Charlie Parker. Chan and I went to the movies to see "New York, New York". When it was over she said Robert DeNiro's charactor reminded her of two people. One was the bari sax player Serge Chaloff and the other was Sid Caesar.

  • Blessings on archivists who can discern what to use their energy and time to preserve.

    Amen ,boys !

  • Actually, it isn't too surprising to see Sid hold his own for a chorus or two with Benny's band.

Sid's actually a veteran of at least one big band that I know of - I've got a pic of Sid on tenor with Charlie Spivak and his Orchestra from 1940. I think Sid was a charter member of Spivak's first band to boot.....

Great clip and thanks to you and to "LiveFeed" for the restoration and, thus, preservation - I've never seen a kinescope look so crisp!

  • This must have been a dream come true for Caeser, one of the coolest Mick/Jews of all time. I like the way Krupa's whole drum kit rocks back and forth when he hits the bass drum.
