@farmergirlify Thank you for your comment about Bill Wells. It's right on! PappyCaligula is an ass and he can take his amplified BS and stick it where the sun don't shine. What a hater! He is rude, crude, offensive, crass, cruel and probably jealous because he got kicked out of the bluegrass parlor. He also doesn't have a clue what bluegrass is or what it's about. Pappy, you are exactly the type we don't want around!

Now how did y'all come up with a guy who looks just like Lester Flatt to sing lead and play guitar? Good job boys!

Bill Wells has done more for Bluegrass in SC than anyone else. I cultivated a love for Bluegrass at Bill's Pickin Parlor and am appreciative that he keeps things simple by NOT allowing pickups and such. I've since endured many jams sessions in the Midwest that were nothing more than a pissing match to see who can turn their amp up the loudest. It's horrible and it ruins the purity of this form of music. Thanks Bill - I'm grateful for you keeping people like Pappy ..and his amp.. out.

lIKE MY MOTHER USED TO SAY, ITS BETTER THAN NOTHING AT ALL

Heh Pleho, you're a good dude for being kind, but instead of saying "loose" let's say "SLOPPY" instead!. OR how about just plain BAD/Awful?
That SC Public Radio Engineer hated these guys when he had to do a remote. (Yea Bill, bet you didn't know they took your money and cussed' you behind your back eh?)

You got it beatapt5. They have the right to do as they please I guess BUT it doesn't at a minimum, serve as much of a good ambassador for B'grass in general. It almost killed the musical form!. Thank GOODNESS for groups like Weaverville's "County Farm", or Asheville's "Steep Canyon Rangers" OR Georgia's "The Ray's" that prove they can be traditional AND progressive. BTW, I wonder if BW would even want a banjo if he found out it was not a Southern BUT an African Instrument eh? Good Post!

@PappyCaligula Oh they're not good. Just thought they were cutsie old dudes trying to play. That "we don't allow" stuff is for the birds. That's just old fart hard headed-ness. That's the attitude most people that can't and never could play take.

You're way too kind. If you heard this band live, they absolutely SUCK. Bill Well's thinks playing whiney and half-out-of-tune is "traditional" which is an insult to all the real pros out there. He refuses to "allow" any instrument with a pickup in his place, much less a keyboard or drums even on jam nights (which he used to and may still charge all participants a cover).
He is a complete A-hole, often to talent. Thank god for the great groups that don't prescribe to that Luddite notion!
Hey Yall. My name is Chris Morris and my grandfather was Zeke Morris. If you know bluegrass then ya know my grandfather and his brother Wiley wrote this song and gave a young Earl Scruggs a job in their band where he learned and perfected his talents. I see Yall talkin about a place this Mr. Wells owns where they play. I would like to get some info and maybe my father John (Zeke's son) and I could come check it out. I actually live in Columbia, SC. Thanks in advance.
