a short video of my first flight with a float plane in April 09. The plane is a Twinstar 2 produced by Multiplex.
The floats are selfmade and are made from 6mm Depron.
I got the plane at: http://hoelleinshop.com/P-R-O-D-U-K-T-E/Flaechenmodelle/Elektro-Motormodelle/...
The motors and ESCs I use: http://modellhobby-shop.de/Motoren/E-Motoren/DYMOND-profi-brushless-Motoren-C...
Additionally I use a 3cell 3300mAh LiPo battery.
For the plans of the floats just follow this link: http://www.vth.de/fileadmin/user/Zeitschriften/fmt/downloads/Depron-Schwimmer...

  • is it difficult to land in water what changes

  • @nuterwq321 It's not difficult exactly. You just have to be careful and watch closely what your plane is doing. You don't want your plane to just drop into the water and you also don't want to touch down with the nose up too much. Don't slow the plane donw 'till it stalls, that's whenn the nose is too high and your plane will start bouncing. It's all about the feeling for your plane. For the beginning, take a plane that is easy to fly and that you know very well.

  • @nuterwq321 then practice you approaches. they should be smooth and stabilized. If you have the feeling that it's just not right, go around and try again. Don't force the plane down, that when you have a good chance to lose it. Watch other videos and look closely at the landings and analyze them. If it was a not so good landing, look what was wrong and what outcome did it have. If it's a nice landing, look how the pilot did it.

Again, it's all about the feeling for the aircraft.

  • Nice job. Looks like they work great. It would be cool if you did a video on how to make them. Thanks for the video

  • @kona357 Thanks. Right now I cannot do any video about that. I'm not home until November. Maybe when I'm back I make one. But it's not very difficult to biuld them, just download the plans from th link in the description box, print them and resize them to the size you need for your plane. Then just build them :)

  • Nice job & skills! Mind sharing your Motor/ESC/Propeller setup?

    Cheers

  • @yoggyz06 I posted the setup in the descriptionbox right below the Video.
