ok maybe I was parroting people on that aspect.....but if you want specifics....that was the closest/simplest thing to relate it to.
In real French, the transition is HARD, so to speak, so you don't "hear" the two "ll's" like in many other French words...
so the English pronunciation "GEE-UH-TEEN" is closer to the original than "GIL-UH-TEEN"
