  • So this is the song Gary Moore is supposed to have stolen... please, give me a break. The amount of information (in the information-theoretical sense) of this song is negligible. The chord changes follow the circle of fifths, and the melodical idea is a two-bar riff that is being repeated (adjusted to the underlying chords) throughout the remaining bars. Every musician's brain is able to "compress" this song to a bare minimum, and thus it's very likely that Gary came up with it by chance.

  • The guitar isn't even in tune =) In the newer video, he plays the solo exactly the same way than Gary Moore. ON PURPOSE. So which one is right?

  • I think they just wanted fame by claiming that Gary stole their song, the guitar solo is just vaguely similar, maybe similar as rythm

  • I don't think the plagiarism conviction was justified. It's a standard chord progression (check out Autumn Leaves on Youtube) and a straight-forward melody. Moore takes a very similar melody and turns it into a completely different song.

But fascinating how in their 2007 version, Jud's Gallery play it very much like Moore does.

  • @whodrswns Same history here, back in 1984 I wrote a song called Psychogamma in Argentina and we played with my band for years in every pub concert we havd the chance. Everybody seems to like that song and becomes of our most claimed. But in in 1986 we had to stop playing because it sounded exactly like super U2 hit "With or Without You", I have tapes, videos but we never registered it, so... I'm still poor like I was in these days. Hahaha...

  • Sounds too different to Moore's Still got the Blues in my opinion.

Der Rest ist Bullshit.---Engl: being a composer an guitarist for 28 Years, I can tell such a melody line comes almost automatically if you do some improvisation on a certain chord progression Thats the facts- the rest is bullshit--- its the singer, not the song. Got it?

  • good point

  • BERLIN (Reuters) A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.

  • fuckin' assholes stole Moore's song.. Gary is the most underrated guitarist in the world and these little pricks steals the only pride Moore is known for.......verdamter wicheren kann zu hölle fahren!!!!
