This is my first time trying out this technique - Dry Brushing.
Mediums used were black oil paint, and pencil (for the outline sketch) on 200gr paper.

Tutorial on how I dry brush can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6QVX2BcLAE

  • are u using only oil paint

  • @MissMochaa yes

  • For the brushes can you just get regular paint brushes?

  • @Mrpencil1996 Aye, they're just some paint brushes I already had, and I experimented with different sizes and fibre types. I have a tutorial on my art channel BlueKittyCreations - I explain what I use and why :-)

  • I noticed that you don't lay down a spare sheet of paper to protect your work from smudging. Am I to understand that this technique carries little to no risk of smudging?

  • @BananaHurricane I've never noticed any smudging... But using an extra sheet of paper to protect from smudging isn't a habit of mine, even when pencil drawing - though in that case I probably should use one....

  • whoa this is like your first. its amazing. i tried one yesterday, and it came out pretty nicely, though there is still room for improvement. I'm going to keep trying. by the way, what type of paper are you using? I used watercolor paper (cold-pressed) and i know i know that it probably wasn't my best idea...

  • do u cleanup ur brushes after use?

  • wow!! thats so freaking good! how long did it take u?

  • @Freak7109 this is amazin pic! hope u gonna draw more with dry brush technique, keep it up
