Every year, large parts of the Jakarta are flooded during the rainy season, which starts in November and ends in April. Floods were especially severe in February 2002 and February 2007, when 60% of Jakarta was inundated with floods, up to seven meters deep, causing over 70 deaths and displacing 340,000 of its inhabitants.
