Part 1 of a 4 part series.
We are aware of the "urban myth" created by a few dealerships that a vehicle's MAF sensor can be contaminated by K&N filter oil. No evidence has ever been provided to support this "myth" and three years of diagnostic testing by K&N has shown that not only is this allegation not real, it is not even possible. In our opinion, it is an excuse for a dealership and/or the vehicle manufacturer to avoid a legitimate warranty repair. In the last 4 years, we have sold over 10,000,000 lifetime air filters and received only a few hundred calls from consumers who are having dealership or service provider challenges. We believe that Dealership's or service provider's real incentive may be to discourage the use of reusable products so they can sell disposable products over and over. In order to provide consumers with added comfort that they will not be placed in a bad position by a improper warranty denial, we offer our Consumer Protection Pledge.

  • If K&N is such a great filter why doesn't the manufacture put it in from the beginning? I would have to say that the engineers that design the cars know more about airflow than a company that make a filter. Car manufactures aren't all about horsepower they are about the longevity of the vehicle. Has anyone else clued into the fact that with more airflow that means more fuel has to be added and that lowers the fuel economy?

  • @TwiztidxxNinja Manufacturers don’t want to use lifetime products in any vehicle because they can’t make money on non-replaceable items. You are correct with your statement of more air needs more fuel, but an intake system or high flow filter does not add more air to your engine (only forced induction, i.e. turbo or supercharger, can do this); induction systems eliminate restriction allowing the engine to pull air in easier.

  • @KNfilters Honestly? So you're telling me that OEM doesn't have reusable filters? How can K&N claim that their R&D is more substantial than a car manufactures? Toyota is putting down $1Million a day for R&D, how much is K&N? By adding just a cleanable air filter how much more can you gain. I have personally thrown on intakes and seen them lower the HP output of a vehicle. How will a little air filter do anything? Maybe the slogan should be buy this so you wont buy a $10 filter.

  • @TwiztidxxNinja I didn’t say manufacturers don’t have reusable filters in their cars from the factory; Ford equips a lifetime air filter in the Focus, which is why we don’t make a replacement filter for it. But what small percentage of vehicles comes this way from the factory? At K&N, we develop air filters and intake systems, which is a small part of a vehicle; a car manufacturer has to develop a vehicle from the ground up. R&D is expected to have a dramatic difference in cost.

  • @TwiztidxxNinja . Allowing air to be drawn into the engine easier will give a HP increase because the engine doesn’t need to waste this energy and can transfer it through the powertrain. K&N’s air filters are unique because the cotton gauze media used allows more air flow without sacrificing filtration; on bonus, cotton gauze is cleanable and reusable

  • @TwiztidxxNinja If you look into aftermarket items, you will notice many car manufactures produce an aftermarket intake system that they say adds power, i.e. TRD, MOPAR, GM Performance, etc. I am happy to help you with your personal concern of a loss in power you have experienced; I will need you to have your dyno tests and contact me at 800-858-3333.

  • @KNfilters YUP It's like a company that made lightbulbs that did not burn out, which they can make. If they did there would be no repeat customers.

  • @TwiztidxxNinja - You actually believe that Toyota drops 1 Million per day in testing???

  • Reading the comments, clearly TwiztidxxNinga is a BRAINLESS RETARD.

  • @TwiztidxxNinja - such a freaking easy answer "COST CONTROL" why else? You have such elementary and unintelligent comments. Not even worth the explanation.

  • @pepelepew debo aceptar que estaba equivocado en cuanto al consumo de combustible con respecto a la entrada de aire. Pero sostengo el resto de mis aseveraciones.
