In 2002, when Amjid started a job working for a road maintenance company he was delighted to have found secure and stable work. But after three trouble-free years, his employment took a turn for the worse when he was subjected to harassment, bullying, and even assault. Keen to put that part of his life behind him, Amjid normally doesnt talk about his experiences; but here he recounts some of issues he faced and how he found guidance and support from his local Citizens Advice Bureau. Rachel Head, a volunteer at the CAB, also talks about how workplace equality legislation such as the Race Relations Act allowed Amjid to take his employers to an employment tribunal to seek redress. If you are experiencing similar problems in the workplace, contact your local Citizen's Advice Bureau: www.citizensadvice.org.uk. The voice of Amjid is played by an actor.
