The Yale Symphony Orchestra's annual Halloween Show is one of Yale's most time honored, irreverent, and popular traditions. Nearly 3,000 students and faculty members gather at midnight on Halloween night in the university's largest concert hall to watch a student-produced silent film, whose music is performed live by the YSO. This year's entry, "The Maltese Bulldog", was a campus-wide sensation, considered by many to be the best ever!

  • Outstanding!! An epic adventure, with lots of thrills, action, and laughs set against a rousing musical score. Two thumbs way up.

  • Nice one, Austin. A trailer that feels just as old school as the movie! Loved the "Heroes and villains as BIG as the cinema!" line. I wonder who that turk could be... He certainly looks mysterious!

  • I don't know if anyone else felt this way as well, but the typeface used for the titles (e.g., the text "Once in a generation comes a FILM so ASTOUNDING" shown at the very beginning) totally broke the "vintage film" feel. It looks like the kind of lettering 6 Flags would use for an Indiana Jones or Jurassic Park themed roller-coaster. WTF!! Also, every single font used in this video is totally anachronistic, but...

  • A guide to the noteworthy people who appear in this trailer:

    * Yale College dean Mary Miller appears very briefly at 1:23.

    * Provost Peter Salovey cameos with an excellent look of shock at 1:26.

    * Jonathan, a senior in my formal semantics class, is the bearded man shown through a red filter at 1:20-1:21

  • @boobtuber06 If only you knew how drunk we were and how much music we had been given the day before...oh so much fun.

  • I dont' know how I stumbled on this, but your strings seem to have pitch issues 0:58-1:02

  • 0:59

I would never reject him like that. Never. NEVER.
