Tale Of Tales Part III

Absolutely brilliant animation film by Yuri Norstein (USSR, 1979). In 2003 at Laputah Animation Festival in Tokyo 140 directors, artists and critics from all over the world called it the second best film of all times!

This is one of the best if not THE best animated films of all times in my opinion as well, but Grreenfield you say it was considered to be the SECOND best film, then im very curious about what is consider to be THE best film??

"Hedgehog In the Fog" was considered to be the first film (As for me I don't like "Hedgehog" so much).Disney's "Fantasia" took the 3rd place

@Archigearour this certain work is heavily mixed with Russian/Soviet history/culture/folk of XX century and briefly even XVIII (as tought in schools probably)

For example how did WW2 disaster crashed the society, and how it survived and changed thereafter.

It's like the dreaming, where you got real-life context mixed and rearranged to focus on your pain emotions.

Don't know if it can be expained in words.

Maybe to share Norstein's pain u have to share that history inside u

I have a lot of difficulty understanding Norstein's work. I think it's because as a mainstream audience, I'm too accustomed to the media holding our hands all the time, without giving us the chance to think for ourselves. But the aesthetic quality of Norstein's work alone, makes me gape in wonder.
