Bring Jessica Lange back to Cheri Project!

Jessica Lange for almost 9 years had been involved with her pet project, a film adaptation of the book Cheri by Collete.

There are many interviews and articles from October 1999 up to May/June of last year, you can get all this information if you go to home.hiwaay.net/~oliver/lange.html, which is a fan based tribute site.

In a very recent interview of Ms Lange dated 15/01/2008 she said that the people in the project had decided that at 58 years of age she is too old to play the 50 year old Leah who has an affair with the title character 30 years younger than her.

In the interview she sounds pretty much hurt after having studied and rehearsed the part. This a very unfair situation and sad to see her treated this way, this is an award winning actress who is internationally known, but has never been a box office draw, maybe that is the case.

Now all of this seemed to have happened when Stephen Frears, renowned film director got involved with the project just recently, he and the producers have now offered the part to 49 years old Michelle Pfeiffer, she is still considering the project.

She and Jessica worked together before in 'A Thousand Acres' and I guess they respect and admire each other, this is nothing against Ms Pfeiffer as I greatly appreciate and respect her as an actress, she is not at fault, it is the people producing and directing the film that is to blame.

It is terrible unfair on Jessica Lange and it is also a matter of principle. It is unlikely that she will be called back to the project, but I would like for people to sign the petition and spread it around so Jessica Lange knows that people and her fans are aware of her ordeal and feel very sad for her and are very angry with the producers of this film. Thanks.

We Jessica Lange's fans are completely shocked, saddened and angry with the producers and director of the film project Cheri.

This has been her pet project for almost 10 years and when she finally gets the go ahead for the film to be made, the people involved in the film asked her to leave because at 58 years of age they consider her too old to play the part of a 50 year old.

We call on the producers of the Cheri project to reconsider their decision and call Jessica Lange back on the project as the heroine and love interest in Cheri.

I'm a huge Michelle Pfeiffer fan, but yea, this does really suck for Jessica Lange. But honestly, if anyone was going to take over the reigns of this project and at the same time, make Jessica happy about it, it would be Michelle. They seemed friendly when promoting A Thousand Acres. Better that it's Michelle than someone else, I imagine.

jessica lange is a terrific actress but pfeiffer would bring more to the role than lange. not box office because i am sam, white oleander, a thousand acres, deep end of the ocean and even stardust were big bombs, but pfeiffer can win her first oscar with a great role like this and i am waiting for that.

Michelle Pfeiffer is more suited to the role and will be draw higher box office influx. From both the business and artistic standpoint, Pfeiffer is the greater choice.
