John Ebersole Drawing upon influences of ancient art from around the world, Ebersole creates a believable rendering in papier-mâché that honors our common human heritage. Johns relationship with art began at very early age. His mother is an accomplished pastel and oil portrait artist. His own formal art training includes studying under Mexican sculptor, Miguel Angel Sanchez in Oaxaca in 1969-70. Originally from California, he has lived and travelled extensively in Mexico, and has also lived a number of years in the Northwest of North America, including British Columbia and Washington State. His home base now for many years has been Benicia CA. He works using his own unique technique combining a type of papier-mâché with images from antiquities, that produces delightfully powerful works with the appearance of being true archaeological treasures. The essence of rock art touches something very deep inside of me says John, in discussing his work.
John, Thank you your work is very nice... I've been dreaming of doing this kind of work for some time and to see what you have done is great ... my idea and dreams are on slightly different vain, but simular in recreating the ancient art work in cave and dreaming symbols would be great ... This has touch me deeply ... thank you ...
