  • I am confused as all the other videos I've watched have you going into the CENTER of the stitch below and that means you have TWO strands over your needle but you're picking up only ONE strand. Which method is right? Yours is the only video or book demo that goes into one strand only. Help! I need to get this cowl finished for Grandgirl's 21st Jan 30th....

  • @secheltsally

hmmm, this is how I was taught to do it and have been doing it all along and it works for me..

  • too fast for me :/ part of it you do slow but then you speed up and i get lost

  • @moshmo

I hope you watched more times and got it. sorry it was too fast. I will try to slow down next time.

  • Yes, I have seen other videos that you knit through the center of the stitch. I love the way you knit it! Your way looks much easier to take out if I make a mistake. Thanks for sharing :)

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy I have about 15 rows to go, and I'll get to it.

  • @Willardsdotter

thank you for this. I haven't had a chance to try it. Have you?

  • You go WAY too fast for me. I can't figure out where to grab the stitch from below. I keep grabbing the wrong thing, then all of the stitches come out.

  • @secheltsally Thanks for the prompt reply....I've tried the other way and it distorts the stitch below (makes a hole) so will take a hug leap of faith and try your method. I have 204 stitches here so want to get going and don't want to do an entire row and pull back. Thanks Judy! PS I just watched your 'make a ball with center pull" with a pill bottle...brilliant!! Off to bed with my knitting....

  • @knittingtipsbyjudy In Alice Starmore's book, Fishermen's sweaters, p.37, it indicates that in the round, you do the first row as stated, but in the second row you PURL into the stitch below. This would duplicate doing this stitch in the flat.
