They were perfect. They still are perfect to me in my eyes. No other pairs can replace the magic and the inspiration behind both Gordeeva and Grinkov's performance. I didn't watch this performance when I had the chance, but it was because I didn't have a good tv and a good computer so I regret missing out of one of the most spectacular televised performance debut ever.

Younger YouTube viewers have no idea how hard it was to make Dick Button and Peggy Fleming actually gasp in awe during a skating program. He gasps in the long program, she gasps in the short.

Just an aside. The Soviet coach didn't have to be so RUDE to David Santee who was just conducting a typical Kiss & Cry area interview. The USSR Team Leader, if they didn't want "questions" should have clarified that to the press corps in advance. Their wishes would have been respected.

Thank you, CoffeeOnIce, for posting. Having taped much of the Calgary events, this Pairs Short had somehow gotten lost and I had recalled how truly spectacular it was. Sergei will always be missed. At least, he gave the world a child and a treasure trove of great performances. Very happy for Katya the she has found marital happiness again with Illia Kulick.
