The Maori Point suction dredge lies stranded on a beach on the Shotover River in Skippers Canyon, Central Otago, in New Zealand's south island. It is the best preserved historical dredge in the country. New Zealand became a world leader in dredge technology. Most dredges were bucket dredges and nearby lies the boom from a bucket dredge, as well as the remains of other mining machinery and processes. Maori point can only be accessed by jet-boat - another Kiwi innovation - and the ride to get there is absolutely awesome !
