Bob and Joan were very different, but they were amazing together, and I think that's partly what made them great, sort of like a "Little bit country, Little bit rock and roll" thing going, opposition attract

This is beautiful. But I agree, that Bob's emotion could never be duplicated. There is always a more sing-song voice available, and I love Joan, but Bob's soul is Bob's soul.

As much as I love Baez, NO ONE has Dylan's soul.

Joan interprets Bob through the lens of life and love. Her voice is the voice of truth.
Peace to all in 2011: Ring them bells

this does not sound like Joan Baez

@moxymeeh : there is a FANTASTIC live version of Bob doing this song on the Bootleg Series 8: Tell Tale Signs compilation. It's not the best bootleg series stuff but there are some absolute gems on there and that's one of them. They just recently removed it from youtube in one of their regular Dylan-sweeps lol...

If Joan Baez had released this instead of Bob Dylan, I'd have dismissed it as crap. Bob sings it like he's SAYING something..He's authorative in his approach.
Baez sounds like she's singing it and trying to get kindergartners to pay attention and sing along ...or is in a bad high school play. Sounds like a white chick with NO SOUL.. ..

Dylan's version is much more raw but certainly very effective. I happen to prefer Joan's gentler approach.

I prefer it to the versions by Bob Dylan and Heart.
