A little bit of historical footage that needed to be preserved. During a demo at Comdex for Windows 98, the USB plug-and-play system was being shown off. A scanner was plugged in, then BANG! Blue Screen of Death. Just goes to show you that "Dear aunt, let's set so double the killer delete select all" wasn't the first Microsoft sales presentation to fail spectacularly

  • this wouldn't have happened if they shipped the nt kernel sooner. but they thought that consumers dont care about file permissions, HAL, preemtive multitasting, modes of privilage and memory protection. they just want easy to use features.
