@sjtwiraga I disagree, not just in the classroom but in everyday life, if you are spoken to in a reasonable way you are likely to react positively. Students need to enjoy their lessons. If a student likes the teacher and enjoys the lesson they will want to please the teacher by doing well.
Everyone reacts the same way to a negative comment, they respond negatively.
