Sing-a-Long

Just a castaway, an island lost at sea, oh
Another lonely day, with no one here but me, oh
More loneliness than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair, oh

Ill send an s.o.s. to the world
Ill send an s.o.s. to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah

A year has passed since I wrote my note
But I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life but
Love can break your heart
Ill send an s.o.s. to the world
Ill send an s.o.s. to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah

Walked out this morning, dont believe what I saw
Hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore
Seems Im not alone at being alone
Hundred billion castaways, looking for a home
Ill send an s.o.s. to the world
Ill send an s.o.s. to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Message in a bottle, yeah
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s.
Sending out at an s.o.s...

The Secret Policeman's Other Ball was the fourth of the benefit shows staged by the British Section of Amnesty International to raise funds for its research and campaign work in the human rights field. It was the second of many shows to bear the celebrated Secret Policeman's title that became the iconic series known informally as The Secret Policeman's Balls.

The show took place in London in September 1981. It was a successor to the 1979 show The Secret Policeman's Ball.

The show was directed by Monty Python alumnus John Cleese and produced by Martin Lewis & Peter Walker [1] (Amnesty's fundraising officer). It subsequently yielded two separate movies (one version for the UK, directed by Julien Temple, and a quite different version for the US) and two record albums (one each of comedy and music performances).

The show was very influential in galvanizing rock musicians to become involved in the human rights issue and in other political and social causes in subsequent decades. Musicians who performed at the show who subsequently became activists in various fields include Sting, Bob Geldof, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins and Midge Ure.

  • This is the most soulful, lonely version of MIAB I ever remember Sting doing.

  • @Bornie1977

This is at the Secret Policeman's ball benefit concert. in 1979. The Police started two years before. So this is Sting, while he still is a band member of the Police.

  • he needed stewart and andy ...

  • TY Sting for singing this better than anyone else. I been rescuing cats here where I live and I had to put down one today who had just showed up over the weekend. He had Leukemia and it was to late. He could have infected the nearly 50 other cats here. I feel so alone and my own SOS still has only been heard by a few. I know their only cats but so many of them have been tossed out like a McDonald's bag or left behind when their owners moved.

  • @00x98pd um, NO he wasn't (a bigger hit)- HE FUCKED UP 1 OF THE GREATEST TRIOS OF ALL TIME!!! Stuart is in TOP 5 of the World!!

  • this is music not freaking justin bieber

  • La più bella ed espressiva di sempre... voglio sto disco!!!

  • Not a bad cover, but I miss so much Copland's amazing drums... For me any police cover (even with Sting) will be always below the original...

  • He knew when he went solo he would be a bigger hit than The Police hell he wrote all of there songs for the band so why should he stay with them he can get all the glory for himself he can play any kind of instrument,,,, to bad though it went to his head hardly any of the music he writes now it's not to good but a couple of songs that's about it,,,,
