The 2nd in a series of shorts about the many reasons why cyclists love to travel by bicycle, featuring Chuck Pengilly. Music by Bjorn Lynne; titles by Luke Regan.
What do you think would have happened if you ran out and hopped on your bike and rode off? Did you go back and recover your helmet? Nice story btw. Was this a cafe on the top of Ventoux?
Great video - In 2004 I went to France solo to follow le Tour and do some exploring. For one side trip I stayed in a youth hostel in Avignon and bicycled to the top of Mt. Ventoux and back. I too roasted in the valley and shivered on the summit till I pulled out my rain jacket.
In the book, "Into Thin Air," Jon Krakauer talks about how guided trips have made Mt. Everest more dangerous because climbers are not as self reliant when guided.

Very nice - love the exact capture of what it means to ride, to be in the world, to be present. Makes one wistful in the midst of a long winter.

One of the many things indeed. The bicycle makes me feel ALIVE!
Keep up the great work ACA!
I will ride every one of your 40,000 miles of mapped routes because they rock my world.
