NDN President Simon Rosenberg identifies several changes in the US political landscape that he believes indicate widespread success for the Democratic Party in November 2008.

-----

Simon Rosenberg of NDN, a progressive think tank and advocacy organization, holds a discussion about all things political in the changing landscape of 2008 with Markos Moulitsas, the founder of one of America's most influential blogs, Daily Kos.

Simon Rosenberg is president and founder of NDN, a leading progressive think tank and advocacy organization.
Rosenberg has worked in national politics and the media world for more than 20 years. He started his career in network television as a
writer and producer at ABC News for five years before working on the Dukakis and Clinton presidential campaigns. On the Clinton campaign, he was a member of the famous 1992 Clinton War Room.

After the campaign, Simon worked at the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Leadership Council and then started what is now NDN in 1996.

During his time at the helm of NDN and its predecessor organization the New Democrat Network, Simon has helped elect more than 50 new members to the Senate and House of Representatives and has been an influential champion of a new and more modern agenda for the nation, an innovator in helping progressives reach out to and communicate with Hispanic voters, and a leader in creating a 21st century progressive movement.

Simon is a member of the Aspen Institute's 2001 class of Henry Crown Fellows and served on the 2004 Democratic National Convention Platform Committee. He sits on the boards of the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Citizenship and Public Service and the publication Democracy: A Journal of Ideas.

Simon was recently named one of the 50 most powerful people in DC by GQ Magazine. A 1985 graduate of Tufts University, Simon and his family live in Washington, DC.

  • Partisan politics made to sound like a university lecture.

It's a genius strategy, and it's done by both parties. However, it is intellectually dishonest; you cannot be part of a republican or democrat "think-tank" and not be politically biased and intellectually biased.

  • Tisch is a murdering Nazi.

  • Minority-Majority my ass. Will whites be able to claim minority status once our population dwindles into nothing?

  • @pjbukem There is universal healthcare for illegal immigrants and poor people through Medicaid and the cost is out of control. Many other programs will have to be cut because of it. Where will the money come from if the number of people in the program are increased?

  • This little guy is clearly a homosexual who got picked on a lot and is venting his rage with marxist politics.

  • Abolitionists spent hundreds of years opposing slavery--was that "wrong" to do because it took a long time? Your standards are suspect, and reveal that your so-called pragmatism is based in trendiness NOT being morally sound or rational.

  • What's wrong with universal healthcare?

  • It doesn't mention onions or noodles either yet they exist. It's a bunch of laws not holy scripture from a higher power. They're not founding fathers they're politicians the most admirable thing they did which more politicians should copy was to die.

You imagine that revolting against the english authority and starting a whole new country was in some way conservative and anti-progressive? How about "not taking any shit" and "not doing what was done before" as original intent?

  • a) if following the constitution is something you don't agree with that's fine but you now you can't bring up the constitution in the defense for your progressive ideas

    b) the fact that the 16th amendment is greatly misconstrued and doesn't follow its original intent. The fact that birth-right citizenship is unconstitutional because your parents have to be under the jurisdiction of the us to be a citizen. There is no authorization for social security, medicaid, FDA, federal reserve.

  • Ha ha ha ha

    a) So fucking what

    b) What the hell are you talking about Oh great legal scholar
