Amtrak Bronx Detours 10/26/2008

Compilation of all clips from the day (10/26/08) of the detoured Amtrak's only. Everything else is omitted from this video. All the Amtrak action in this video were detours/reroutes - of Empire Service / Ethan Allen / Lake Shore Limited trains being diverted due to switch replacement at CP-12 located between Spuyten Duyvil and Riverdale, NY. The switch project closed down access to Amtrak's Empire Connection causing some trains to terminate/originate at Croton-Harmon (CRT) and others to be rerouted below CP-12 and into Grand Central Terminal. The Lake Shore Limited and the Maple Leaf (not shown here) were detoured "around the world" across the Bronx via Harlem and Lower New Haven Lines to New Rochelle, NY to still provide through service to Penn Station via the Hell Gate Bridge (NYConnectingRR) route...

High ridge was where the Putnam line began if i'm not Mistaken or wait that was their yard.

High Bridge (not ridge) was the "transfer" point for pax from GCT to get onto Putnam Division trains which originated down at Sedgwick Ave.

I have never seen the Amtrak Maple leaf being towed by MN.

its not a normal occurrence - in this case it only happened because AMTK needed to detour some trains into NYG instead of NYP.

Beyond that even during the weekends this was shot the Maple Leaf and the LSL were detoured around the world and were not towed by MN - they jsut had MN pilot crews on board.....
