He's popular. Pop = popular; that is the meaning of the word pop, so he is pop. And he is brilliant at it.

djbethell - I disagree; Pop is a genre in music that although derives from the word "popular" doesn't mean that every artist or song that become popular are instantly definedas "pop music" - Is Leonard Cohen doing pop music? and Metallica? how about Frank Sinatra's music? nope. pop music means it is aimed to hit to the taste of the masses, to the widest veriety of listeners. usually, it comes with shallowness, sadly.

You may disagree, but in reality you're disagreeing with fact. Frank Sinatra, Leonard Cohen, Metallica not mass-marketed? The Beatles, The Rolling Stones? They were all mass-marketed in their day! And they've all released the 3 1/2 minute pop song. The term "pop song" is first recorded as being used in 1926 in the sense of a piece of music "having popular appeal". You trying to tell me Aviv's "Love Song" and "It's Alright" are not pop songs? Pop doesn't have to be as bad as you think.

Oh no, I wasn't suggesting pop has to be bad, I was only saying that the definition of "pop music" is deeper than just the saling numbers.. classic music albums are being mass marketed in many places, yet do not meet the definition of pop music do they?
"Pop" is a musical genre, a sort of music. it doesn't have to be bad, but it usually is (britney spears anyone?) because it has to appeal the masses

I do not listen to POP but Avivs new album is going to be off the chain!!! This will be one of my very first times to buy a POP record.
