DASH is a low weight, dynamic robot created in the Biomimetic Millisystems Lab at UC Berkeley. It can run forward at 1.5 m/s, climb over obstacles several times greater than its own hip height, and survive falls at terminal velocity.
Beautiful in its simplicity. It looks like it could easily adapt to surface paddling or underwater swimming with the appropriate feet/legs. An easy way to add better turning might be to add a pager motor and propeller 90° to the travel direction, or maybe add a 7th leg at the nose pointing sideways.
Very impressive concept. Excellent video. Thanks for posting it.
