Players evolve over time. Of course Hewitt, Roddick, Safin, Nalbandian (and so on) are better than the players in the 90's. Federer, with the skills he has today, probably would have won every single Slam back then, because players get better. Just like Novak Djokovic plays better right now than any other player has in the history of tennis. It's just normal. Just look at mens' 100m sprint. The world records get faster by each generation because they can learn things from earlier generations.
You can have your opinion and I respect that. You can think Sampras is the greatest of all time and Federer isn't - fine. But claiming that Federer would've won 2 or 3 Slams had he played in the 90's is just complete BULLSHIT. Still you could've said "he would've won 0 Slams" so at least props for that
@slatz20 I bet you know nothing about tennis. It has been a great debate about who's the greatest of all time. U said Federer could not win in the 90s because Agassi,Edberg,Chang,.... were greater than players in Federer's time?? U r totally wrong. Dont tell me Roddick,Hewitt,Safin,Djokovic,Nadal,Nalbadian,Murray all play for money. Most of them have won a grand slam title, and because of that, they will not play only for money.I bet my life that none of them are worse than Edberg,Chang,Becker,.
@michaelowen8 Thats why he won so often u moron. because he doesnt play for the money...the other bitches does. Like Roddick or Dawidenko. U really think Federer had a Chance in the 90s??? What a fucking joke. He would have won perhaps 2 or 3 Grand Slams. Thats all. And Sampras is the greatest of all Time. He had the toughest field to beat. - Agassi, Edberg, Chang, Goran Ivanisevic, Boris Becker, Patrick Rafter...they all played for the Title.
@slatz20 ok i dont wanna be rude, but you son of a bitch stretch your ears and listen.
every players join the tournament for money. But there is more than that. They play with their heart, performing all the beauty on the court when millions of people watching only two of them.
Ask yourself, during his career, earning more than $60 million, why would Federer cried after a loss, especially at a Grand Slam final?
It is the pride, the honour to hold the trophy, to be the Best Player of All Time.
