Well, tsung was cursed by the elders,The curse decreased his lifespan, unless he takes the souls of others to re generate. If he didnt take souls he would die. Taking souls gave him the ability to shapeshift as a side affect. If anything he's just really smart taking advantage of it.

@TheClandestine94 Both Shang Tsung and Quan Chi are pussies. The only reason they beat Lui Kang is because Quan Chi got him from behind Plus I Lui Kang went down pretty easily, I thought Lui Kang would have put up more of a fight(Like Raiden did).

i just don't like that in mk9 shang tsung gets his ass kicked by kitana, smoke and liu kang. he is one of the strongest sorcerers of shao khan, it is said that his power is second only to the emperor (and maybe goro, but i don't know, if somebody tells could tell me this i would thank him very much), so no matter how strong someone can be, shang tsung should be beaten only by the strongest, like liu or kung lao
