Phil drags out the old classical guitar for his take on the Antonio Carlos Jobim standard. The actor/folksinger/comedian (and brilliant guitarist!) Bernard Wrigley does a really funny version of this; starts off singing it straight, and ends up juxtaposing an image of a drunken woman from Bolton (or something like that!)

  • Yeah I remember that one. In fact, in some ways I feel sorry for all those 'funny guys' who are/were typecasted by their 'act' - most are/were actually really good guitarists: consider Grant Baynham, Keith Donnelly even the late Steve Goodman!

    Trust you're well?

    Cheers

    Phil

  • I remember seeing Bernard do this some years ago, you're right it is funny. Did you ever hear him do his take on "Me and Bobby McGee" He called it "Me and Gladys Mcfee" and I remember the first line of the chorus was "Feeling Glad was easy Lord"
