My cockatiel has a small drink of coffee every know and again and he is fine, living and healthy. wouldnt reccomend you give it to them all the time though

Finally, someone who is a little broader minded on this subject. My father only drank decaf, and rarely did he share any with the bird.

I heard giving your bird sugars like candy even cofee can kill it, also human saliva can easily kill it.

This was 5 years ago and this bird is still doing fine. I wouldn't recommend this for any other birds.

Why would you give him something that could even possibly make him sick??? Why not give him 100% fruit juice or something else? There's plenty of other things. Why would you take the chance?

Hah. True that. Cockatiels aren't supposed to drink coffee but it's by no meants deadly to them like so many people assume.

@gillraker (continued again)- DONT KEEP CONCREATE OR SAND PAPER PERCHES IN THE CAGE! you may thing that its good for them but its NOT! Sandpaper perches and Concreate pearches will cause infections to their feet, think about it, if its sanding down their nails its also gona sand down there skin, and all it takes is one little scratch to their feet and just like that your bird will end up with BUMBLEFOOT, i learned this the hard way, my bird got bumblefoot and its very hard to get rid of, well

@gillraker (continued)- egg and cheese make GREAT treats but should ONLY be givin to once in a blue moon, and THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, your bird should be givin FRESH Fruits and Veggies every day, birds need their vitamins and minerals to keep healty and maintain beatiful feathers, there sould be a cuttlebone in the cage its good for there bones and muscles, DONT KEEP YOUR BIRD ON A SEED DIET! Seeds are PURE FAT and will malnutrition your bird, Pellet diets are much healthier, and one last thing,

@gillraker Make sure you dont give Your bird Sugar its very fattening and will give you bird less energy, birds need plenty of exercize and attention, but make sure when you take him/her outa there cage there are NO open windows and NO mirrors bird get confuzed about mirrors thinking OH LOOK MORE SPACE TO FLY! and end up hurting them self, Also dont give your bird Table food espicaly CHOCOLATE AND AVOCADO , chocolate and avocado are VERY DEADLY to birds, also watch about egg and cheese

Oh crap! I just got an Aussie Cockatoo.... Every morning she has been coming down and sharing my coffee with me.. I had no idea it was bad. I'm still learning and apparently have much yet to learn... *sigh*.. I sure hope I haven't caused my beautiful bird any harm. Rest assured, I'll not be allowing her to have my coffee anymore! I'm so very thankful to have found this video!
