Deacon has a FAN PAGE on FACEBOOK! Do a search there and you will find it.

Here he is! A superstar! The demented! The dangerous! The disgusting! Deacon Dark! Best known for his hit songs "Smash It", "Screaming Voodoo Devil Boogie Woman" and "Step, Step, Step On Toads".

Sonny Bono (along with Artie Johnson) appeared on the second season of "The Love Boat" in an episode entitled "The Sound of Silence". He portrays a rock singer that is a cross between Gene Simmons of KISS and Alice Cooper. Of course, he HATES performing rock music and wants to be taken as "serious" singer. He falls in love with a deaf woman who convinces him his loud rock music is no good. We all know that the hearing impaired make the best music critics. Sonny expresses his love in song as he performs a sappy Dennis DeYoung styled ballad. Of course EVERYONE agrees that this is SO MUCH better! Love is in the air!

Too bad Sonny never recorded an entire LP as Deacon Dark. This episode aired in 1978, a good six years prior to the movie "This Is Spinal Tap".

  • after such a powerful, exciting and energetic performance to a song about smashing things up, the only thing he has seemed destroy at the end of it was his credibility and dignity.

  • @MegoGigantor & @bloodthirstycow22 - In this episode Sara, the deaf girl Deacon Dark falls for, was supposed to be a friend of Julie's. They even had Lauren signing and interpreting. I think it was Season 5 when Aaron Spelling gave her the heave-ho.

  • King Diamond should credit Deacon as a BIG influence.

  • I still say he should've sang "Screaming Voodoo Devil Boogie Woman".

  • He's no Jerry Vale.

But really, who of us is?

  • There is an episode of this German sound stage show, like The Whistle Stop, called Music Laden. Alice Cooper ends the song "18" just like this , he falls down, but he has an empty bottle of Jack Daniels, drank about 1/4 of it during the song. You wonder if a young King Diamond was watching this?

  • That is seriously one of the funniest things I have EVER seen in my life, and I have a very full life....

  • I've searched for this clip forever.

    Thank you for posting this!
