Butrint is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest sections date back 2500 years. A few of the many stops inside this huge Archaeological park were: The Gymnasium; Odeon/Theater that had a temple to the God, covered walkway and a treasury to hold offerings made to Asciepius; what remained of a wealthy villa with still vivid mosaics.
Definitely a Roman Forum, always the civic and commercial heart of a city. And Roman Baths. Every Roman city had baths for hygienic reasons, get a massage and schmooze to catch up on the local gossip.
Tick....tock....we raced to see the walls, Church and Baptistery...time was up.
