In this tutorial, I reviewed what I had done wrong through observations and viewer's advice that came in. My washing machine being high efficiency was a problem. The towel I suggested as wrong leaving unwanted fibers into my work. I had other key issues. Understand what I did wrong so you don't repeat the same mistakes.

  • I just started and finished my first felting project after watching your video yesterday I wanted to give it a try. I made a small bag for my cell phone... it turned out pretty cool, but the brim didn't shrink as much as I hoped, but it'll still work. Next up.. I'm gonna make an toat/purse! So excited!

I felted it in my kitchen sink by hand and it only took a few min because it was such a small item. I used the blue KK loom, basically a newborn hat. Used a dab of soap and baking soda

  • I loved your live tutorial! You were so excited and happy about doing it. I absolutely agree with you on the whole shrinkage factor. It is hard to invest in a project with real wool that you are not positive will turn out the way that you want it to. One thing that my daughter and I do because of this is we tend to do things that we can sew. So if we want a hand bag with different colors we would crochet and felt different colored squares or strips and then sew them together. love everything!

  • Thank-you for the follow up! I'm so wanting to try this even though I have an HE machine. I have some itchy Goodwill yarn that would be good for some felt bag experiments.

  • Thanks for this update. It appreciate the information. I was thinking of crocheting a hotpad to use as a trivet. I'm going to get some wool yarn and give felting a try.

  • So glad you posted this... I made a messenger bag many years back that was meant to be felted, but was a beginner and just used whatever yarn I found around the house (all acrylic) and ended up with a HUGE bag! I've been afraid to try felting since, but it doesn't sound so scary now...

  • You're a "kick" my friend! "Use someone else's jeans!" That's funny! Good job felting! Nice to see this update. Thank you!
