PLEASE READ : All - In effort to kick off some bass coverage, this was my attempt at trying to deliver something cool. I know my timing is off, and to be honest - I was a little unprepared for this, BUT - I am about keeping it real - so I'm releasing the vid. I hope you enjoy it. Hopefully - it will give you some creative ideas!

AND - BY THE WAY - I am using LOTS of signature series gear here :

Greg Weeks from The Red Chord - signature series Traben Bass.

John Moyer from Disturbed Kustom KBA16 bass amp.

AND ... I am using a vintage Peavey TubeFEX. This was SUPER HOT back in the day. Artists like Tony Iommi endorsed it, and folks like ADRIAN SMITH from IRON MAIDEN STILL USE IT!! The preset selected was the 'Brown' sound (EVH), so that's the guitar tones being pumped into the Kustom Tube 12A combo!

Everything is mic'd up (SM57s), etc.

I hope you like it. Please comment & subscribe! Thanks again, and as always, THANKS for your support, signed - TTK

  • one question.... what did iommi have to do with this video?

  • He used to endorse the Peavey TubeFEX preamp (which is what you hear w/ the guitar tone). VERY rare, discontinued piece.

  • Google Iommi and TubeFEX - you'll see some links and old magazine ads of him using this preamp.

  • This is why guitarists SHOULDNT own a bass....haha, nah im kidding sounds cool lol

  • Have you thought about making videos with only bass gear?

  • He was just showing us what you can do as a guitarist with a bass. If you own both and make music, then you usually record the bass lines first (don't have to, but it's a method). But yeah I agree that every guitarist should own a bass, and vice versa. I guess a drum machine, if not drums, also.

  • I agree. Too much distortion for the rhythm. Alot of heavy guitar sounds are alot cleaner then nnnyou think. Heavy distortion sounds alright when your playing alone but with a band it turns to mush. I have a Peavey Tubefexs. I only used it for effects vbecause I preferred the sound of my Mark 2 Boogie. However the Tubefexs blows away alot of the products that you see today. I've had a Vox Le and Boss Gt6 and GT8. They are more versataille but the sound is not as good as Tubefex.

  • since we are guitarists, wouldnt it make more sense to lay down a bass rhythm track and jam over it on guitar LOL.

btw i agree with u i own bass gear for recording purposes. but then again i also own drums haha.

  • right on the 40 sec. big big big gain :D:D

  • That pre-amp setting DOES sound alot like Tony Iommi's tone.

  • 5:01 The Hand That feeds?

  • still really didnt sell the idea to me of having a bass guitar to, because yes you make great music there, but also you have all that great equipment to make it all work

  • Either way, it's muddy ;)
