Count Basie presiding over some unusually good singers and musicians; Joe Williams, and Jon Hendricks. The chorus backing Joe Williams is Lambert Hendricks, and Ross.
Debuted on the Billboard pop chart on Aug 18, 1958, peaked at #100 & charted for 1 week. Credited to Count Basie & His Orchestra on the single Roulette 4088
Just fabulous stuff!- My favorite version of this tune. LH&R + Basie's New Testament Band + Joe Williams! Put them together, what's not to like?? I think the year was 1957. What a wonderful period in America's Classical Music (jazz). In my opinion, the '50s produced the finest jazz of all time, AND... since it was also the decade during which high-fidelity recording techniques were perfected (stereo too), all that great music was captured in pristine sound quality. Long live '50s jazz!
