Here is an opportuinty to hear Sauer in an extended work by Schumann: a slightly abridged version of his "Carneval" op.9. The recording was made in c.1923.
seems to be the best existing interpretation of this important piece. We can hear it often too strict in tempo and too heavy. Here everything has sense.A long time I did not find the sense in these pieces as I never heard a real good interpretation.Thanks for sharing this.

I wonder how similar to his mentor Lieszt/s musical interpretation, teaching and feeling is Sauer in this perfomance of Carnaval. I really appreciate your uploads of these little time capsules to a bygone musical era and sensibility.
