@Cooleemee43 ya i agree the big three didnt shut him down it was the government. they didnt want another car to be out there cuz the other major car makers were there. so they got worried and tried to convict him on fraud but during trial showed they were commiting fraud. about the windshield back then u didnt even really have to worry about somebody breaking into your car tho.
blummermedia-The point is that if the car made mass production that windshield would have been one of many issues that would have to have been addressed, thats all. Love the car, but with only 37 officially built by the factory and the other 14 being fit out by several methods the kind of problems mass production brings will never be known, other then they would have had to make changes. Look at all the trouble cash rich Toyota is having today with recalls, that says it all.
@blummedia And since I don't read according to you tell me how I miraculously pulled up Otto Kerner Jr. Maybe you should look at his part in this story.
Oh and a coat hanger gets me into any car built in the 50s in ten seconds. If I were stealing a car that is that easy to get into why the hell would I remove the pop-out front windscreen and drive off with it in the back seat?
@blummedia-Yeah right blundermedia people didn't start stealing stuff until the 70's right? Listen don't be a hater with stupid and inane questions like what have I built, what does that matter? Visit the Tucker Club of America online and order the book by Philip S Egan called Design and Destiny:the making of the Tucker Automobile. It talks about all phases of the cars development and limited test production ie the cars that exist today. Don't believe me do some reading and try again.
Didn't remember that car burgs were a big problem in the 50s. Then all you have to do to find the bad guys in this story is start with Otto Kerner Jr. and the Chicago/ FDR New Dealer Machine.
