  • @gicusoft Tesselation is good for things like map displacement.

  • Most people don't know how to use tessellation properly. You are suppose to have way less polygon for the un-tessalated model and increase illiteration until you hit performance/polygon peak.

  • The problem with tesselation is that it doesn't add too much detail to the scene. It only adds triangles and lots of heat.

  • IMO, Thw major use of the Direct X API is to support games. It will take a lot of time for game studios to actually get into this..

  • @starsiegeplayer Almost, except that rather than the location of new points being interpolated from the location of the surrounding points (see phong tessellation) a depth map is used to define the surface in great detail.

  • so what is tesselation? some kind of polygon interpolation?
