I ride Western and English... they are both difficult in their own ways.Both require a good seat. I don't understand why people have to argue over which discipline is better...Where did you learn that you need to put down other athletes in your own sport? Where did you learn that sportsmanship isn't required?Horses can dangerous with or without a saddle Why do you have to sit at your computer and put down others because of which saddle or discipline they prefer? What makes you better?

Both disciplines are amazing and special and neither are any better than the other. Any REAL TRUE horseman or horsewoman would know this. Its called respect for one another's differences. But one interesting thing to point out, you know someone doesn't know western very well when they think we use our saddlehorn... because we don't. You actually get faulted if a judge sees you touch it during a western pleasure class x)

@144vass ummm western is just as difficult escpecially if you do reining, barrel racing ect. both are difficult

English: it's what i started off riding with, u do jumping, racing, dressage, etc, i love it because of the wide selection of activities u can do, i luv riding english, its proper and u show off ur stuff.

Western: i started that after english, i luv it cuz of gymkanna, trails, etc, i love it because if i want to run in a wide open space and lose my balance, i have a horn to hold on to.

My fav: i luv both, there should be no fighting about which is best, because i ride both, and it wont change!

If you aint a reiner...try spinning. if you got a horse that spins properly and FAST it will make u dizzy lol
