Coho Fry in Wilson Creek July, 2011. In this video you see the Coho Salmon fry that were laid in the creek, as eggs, about seven months before. Also in this video you can get some idea of the numbers of fry and where they live. They are shown in shady pools, sunny pools and under logs. To get a rough estimate of the total number of fry in this creek at this time, I counted fry at six locations along the six kilometres of spawning habitat. If there are 10/square meter and the creek is one meter wide then the total number of fry along six km of creek would be 60,000 fry. This is a conservative estimate. I make these videos about the creeks around the Sunshine Coast B.C. Canada, for the record and for a group of people called "The Stream Keepers." We Stream Keepers are unpaid citizens who study, the hydrology and biology of the creeks, with a view into the future of the living systems around us. We know that the future of human life on earth depends on the continued functioning of the biosphere of our planet.
Hi Floyd: I learned many things while making this video. Did you know that if you put your hand in a creek, many little critters will come along and bite it?
