Simon Reeve discovers that in forested Laos the locals eat everything that grows, crawls and scampers in the woods, as he is given a breakfast of grilled squirrel and fried caterpillars by a Lao chef. Simon suspected he might actually be eating rat, and his Lao guide wasn't entirely reassuring.
Simon's epic trip around the Tropic of Cancer is his toughest journey yet. The spectacular adventure takes him through 18 countries on the northern edge of Earths tropical zone. Starting in Mexico he travels east through the glorious Caribbean, to a stunning desert oasis in North Africa, across India and Asia, and on a dangerous, covert incursion into the remote hills of western Burma.

@bapyou Chinese authorities didn't permit him to film in their country. He went to Laos and Vietnam instead.

Excuse me, BBC: Consulting an atlas tells us that the Tropic of Cancer dos not even pass through Laos. From India, the ToC passes into Burma; from Burma the ToC passes into China. The north-most tip of the Laotian border is at least 100 miles or so to the south of the ToC.
