Senator Dorgan hosted a meeting May 5 at the U.S. Capitol with the federal, state and local officials from North Dakota and Minnesota. The goal was to help state and local officials reach consensus on what kind of flood control project they would like the Army Corps of Engineers to build in the Red River Valley.
Local consensus is key, because once it is achieved, that clears the way for the Army Corps of Engineers to step in and help build a project to protect communities from flooding
