Please enjoy Teresa's performance of a Japanese song "さざんかの宿 (Sazanka no Yado)" meaning the "Inn of Camellia sasanqua)", originally sung by 大川栄作 (Ohkawa Eisaku). (Ichikawa Syousuke) composed the song, and 吉岡治 (Yoshioka Osamu) wrote the lyrics..

This is a song of an unrequited passion for a married lady, sung by a male.

The following are the Japanese lyrics, with my English translation.

Kumori garasu (glass) wo te de fuite
(Can you see tomorrow)

Anata ashita ga miemasuka
(by wiping frosted glass by hand?)

Aishitemo aishitemo
(Even though I love you so much,)

Aa hito no tsuma
(ah, you remain wife of other person)

Akaku saitemo fuyu no hana
(Even though in bloom in red, you are a wintry flower)

Saite sabishii sazanka no yado
(You are a sad camellia at this inn)

Nuita yubiwa no tsumi no ato
(Please bite my finger strongly at the rest of sin)

Kande kudasai omoikiri
(after taking the ring off)

Moetatte moetatte
(Even if I am in passionate love,)

Aa hito no tsuma
(ah, you remain wife of other person)

Sadame kanashii fuyu no hana
(You are a wintry flower with sad destiny)

Asu wa iranai sazanka no yado
(I do not need tomorrow, at the inn of camellia)

Semete asa made ude no naka
(By holding you in my arm at least till next morning,)

Yume wo misasete kuremasuka
(please let me dream)

Tsukushitemo tsukushitemo
(Even if I devote myself to you so much,)

Aa hito no tsuma
(ah, you remain wife of other person)

Futari saitemo fuyu no hana
(Although we are in bloom, you are a wintry flower)

Haru wa itsu kuru sazanka no yado
(When will spring come at the inn of camellia?)

  • @teresatengorg

    Thank you.

  • doumu arrigatou 4 the beautiful song & can you tell when teresa teng-san sing it what year?

    ja,

  • @javlover666

Okawa Eisaku released this song in August 1982.

Teresa is considered to have sung this soon after this.

  • What I mean was this song if sung by male is more suitable isn't it. Anyway is lovely song to enjoy.

  • @Camp200789

I understand what you mean. This song was originally sung by a MAN (not a woman). Female enka singers often sing songs of men, and vice versa.

  • Japanese music is beautiful

    I enjoy enka songsImran
