In this weeks Insidermedicine Review Dr. Sanjay Sharma discusses new research published in Nature showing that a rats with retinitis pigmentosa derived more benefit from the injection of partially developed stem cells than from embryonic stem cells. This is good news for patients with macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa. It also may signal a new line of research in that other researchers may start to use partially developed cells as opposed to ones that are totally undifferentiated. In the second story, the issue of the "ballon- to-pump" time, that is the time taken for a patients with a heart attack to receive an angioplasty is discussed. Research showed that in hospitals that use 2 out of 6 best practices, patients with heart attack received their angioplasty within 88 minutes of walking into the ER- just under the 90 min window recommended by heart doctors.

I have RP, and I am 24. But it always depends on how one thinks about it, you can think of it either as a flaw, or as an advantage. :)

RP sucks... mostly because your tunnelview is getting smaller with the years
These days there is nothing to do about it, there was some cuba-project, but all doctors all over the world told their patients not to do it, because it's untrustable, it's way too expensive, and the chance you get blind is very high...
I have RP, and I have symptons of Usher Syndrome, which is RP and Badhearing, and both can get worse with the years
