What Neil had to say about this song: "This was written for the teenage girls who were my audience in 1966 and 1967. All those ooohs and ahhhs and screams made me laugh a little. Here I was, an ordinary kid from Brooklyn being treated like some kind of sex symbol. It threw me for a loop at first and then I decided to write a song with these girls in mind."
