Don't Forget to subscribe!!!

This is what I wanted to know when I first made the leap from "videography" to "cinematography".

Overview of cinematography techniques using a Manfrotto tripod, 501 fluid head, Canon Zoom Lens 28-135mm f3.5-5.6, Canon 50mm f1.4 lens and a GlideTrack system and a Rode Video Mic. Serveral clips showing all the equipment being used together to create different types of cinematic sequences, edited in Final Cut Pro.

Footage of elephant seals in San Simeon, Ca. and roller derby in Paso Robles, Ca.

Check out the whole series on 5D Filmmaking!

  • i love how they tell you how to be creative...

  • @chance1234567890 - Me too... But it's all fun!!!

  • I had to replay the video several times - keep getting distracted by the Martini :)

Thank you for the video great info...

  • @NoeGarciaPhotography - LOL. Thanks for watching.

  • Not true hen it comes to hdslr 4:2:0, I lready used any lighting, decent lighting, he'll even the great Mercian slr shoot out failed on the best lighting they can find when it came to recoding greenscreen clean, so much spill and noise in all canon as, 5 dmkii, 7d, 60 d , the ex1, ex2 and fs100 shot clean clear no spill green videos in their tests, can you confirm if it was their lighting?

  • @SkyFilmography - I can't confirm anything specifically BUT I've done green screen on my 5D Mark II with various lenses. "Lighting the GS" and the talents "proper distance away from it (to avoid spill)" is crucial. Understanding color smoothing, color keying and other techniques in post is also your friend. Hope that helps.

  • @SkyFilmography - You could use any lens. The "key" to good green screen is proper lighting and the right software for keying out the green. I've shot GS on old Hi8 cameras and it's worked fine.

  • What's the best lens advise to a new 5dmkii owner who wants to shoot green screen , I read ppl saying use Nikon lens, ziess cp2 etc etc

  • @StellaisBack - The audio issues were resolved years ago. As with all cameras you should use a good quality mic. It's a great camera.

  • I'm looking to buy this camera as a new film maker looking to make documentaries. My friend said it's not a good choice cuz of the audio issues. No control etc. Do you agree? Or would something like the mic you were using work just fine?
