I started doing research of my father's family a couple of weeks ago. I tried the last few years of my father's life to get to know him, still, I found out so little. I found a picture of his mother Georgiana who died at age 56; the picture told a thousand words. Then I found his stepfather's pic, C.E. Chance, the honest, hard abusive man my father endured for 15 years before joining the military for 22. Except for the suicide, this song could have been written word for word about my father.

This a very moving, powerful and sad song. It's shows John Mellencamp's amazing eye for the life around him, and his heart for it. Remember those around you.

Youtube, you are starting to be like Yahoo(CENSORSHIP)posting only what u see fit.
The matter of kindness, compassion, and responsibility to one's self and our kind. . .this should not be a matter of politics. It takes a strength to believe that we can help one another out without personal detriment. I'm sorry we're beginning to live in an age where showing mercy is considered to be a weakness.

@BoondockSaintsGrrl Right on, could not put it better. It is just wrong. We have millions of poorly clothed, schooled and fed children and adults... what a disgrace. Sad to say the charity sent abroad is not sent for compassion reasons primarily but to keep America's influence and informal empire in place (the hand that feeds). If it were compassion the food would be sent to US slums and shacks first. Sad.
