I hope she made it to the train on time.
Kidding aside, this is just Martha being Martha; she can be totally unbuttoned at times. I believe this is from the 1960's, and it sounds like a recording from a competition or recital. It's certainly far different than any other performance of this that I've ever heard.

There are so many different interpretations of this work, (and everything else), and most of them, even if they are different are fine. Nobody can agree with everything in a recording. Some sections are close to our musicality than others.

@Aelrond This is precisely what I like about her playing. It gives her a very specific quality and it brings out some sort of inner musical structure to the surface.

@Aelrond Its all just the psychoacoustics of the piano and how it sounds in speakers headphones & playback systems. Like right now I'm listening to it on a great pair of headphones and it sounds terrible, but earlier I listened to it on a cheap pair of speakers and it sounded great. Everything is a mess, so we'll never hear it right!

@yogaman13 I can't hear the out of tune. You must have much better ears than me!

This piece is among my favorite Chopin pieces. It's just so strange, it kind of drifts from sadness, to jolly, to fear, to awe, and all in this continuous fashion. It doesn't really resemble living life, but rather the retrospection of life. Looking back on all its strife and glory...

I certainly admire her brilliance and poetry but sometimes some of the slaient motifs in teh inner voices are flooded over by her breakneck speed

I know she is a genius but I don't like her keystroke.
It's too strong in my opinion.
Life is rushed, agitated, contemplative, introspective....the language of music gives us a chance to experience it.
