@viviaaaaanx I just don't like physical mannerisms in pianists. It's well worth taking an example by the real greats. Richter, for one, never did anything like that. Of course, she is very young, and highly talented at that, so she has all the time in the world to get rid of that mannerism.
@MrAndieMusik Why would that bother you? She's "swinging and swaying" to her own playing, keeping rhythm. I also sway when playing more advanced songs (nothing close to this well) to stay in beat with my crescendos or decrescendos.
I just stumbled onto this video and was absolutely amazed by the talent Rinka has displayed here. But I am amazed by some of the negative comments here. What a bunch of jerks! For an 8 year old kid, these people are critiquing her "inappropriate" emotional expressions. The absurdness is beyond believe. It's like critiquing an 8 year old kid not able to dunk a basketball while watching him make 80% jump shots from 18 feet.
@filiae666 What do you expect? as if you could put any interpretation in a peice when you were playing at 8 years old - if you were playing at 8 anyway. Im 14, and i have been playing since 4, and I can tell you i only started putting emotion in my pieces at 12, when you start becoming a teenager, because before that, emotions have not yet developed. Its a fact. My piano teacher is Japanese; her playing is nothing like "typical", she was a professional, playing at all famous venues. learn piano.
incroyable le talent qu' il y a déjà dans cette petite âme et ces petits doigts!

What bothers me is that she's continuously swinging and swaying like a ballerina. What's that for?
