The Little Road To Bethlehem
Written in 1936 by an Englishwoman named Margaret Rose and set to music by Michael Head in 1945.
Rose was inspired to write this lovely poem while watching flocks of sheep returning to their folds, at the call of the shepherd's bell, after a day of grazing on the hills of Essex.
Normally performed as part of a classical repertoire, we wanted subtler setting to showcase the folk-quality and simple imagery in the lyrics -- our fingerpicking accompaniment gives the song a refreshingly light feel.
Bill accompanies himself on the Baritone Ukulele, and Faith provides background vocals.
