  • The Defender was pre-installed on the laptop and when we attempted to uninstall it ( and we got far---reinstall the latest edition), update or open it, the error mentioned above pops up.

    The laptop has not been updated in Defenders and Microsoft Updates in quite awhile. We are trying to updates Windows right now. BTW, when we first investigated the matter, we found the Defenders not on. Could the laptop contracted a virus, adware or etc?

  • @cypresspeter2008 Well something similar happened to me - i got a load of error messages when i forced a shutdown by by pulling the power cord out when windows was attempting to update, the only was past this is to install a fresh copy of windows, i took mine to a computer repair shop, had no problems since

  • Bradley, I need help. My friend's laptop starts up then freezes shortly.An error window pops up labeled "Windows Defender" and says,"Application failed to initialize 0x800106ba. A problem caused this programs service to stop.  To start this service, restart your computer or search Help and Support for how to start service manually."I guess it is a "Windows Defender" issue. CONT---
